Melissa Nyman is an opera singer, composer, and sound healer who brings together her deep musical background with the transformative power of energy work. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance/Opera from Long Island University and a Master’s in Classical Composition from SUNY Purchase. While her early career focused on performance and composition, a Reiki training sparked her interest in the energetic side of healing.

Melissa first met Vanessa as her voice teacher, and through their shared fascination with how the voice carries emotion and energy, they began collaborating on workshops that combined sound, movement, and healing. These experiences deepened Melissa’s curiosity about how specific frequencies can influence the nervous system and support energetic balance.

That curiosity led her to complete her Yoga Teacher Training at Emerge. What began as a personal growth journey became a powerful experience of self-discovery and integration. Today, Melissa blends her background in music, Reiki Master certification, and sound healing training to offer a unique approach to sound and energy work.

At Emerge, she teaches yoga, assists in sound and energy workshops and trainings, and serves as Media Director, helping share Emerge’s offerings with a wider audience. Her work reflects her belief that sound is not just something we hear but something we feel, guiding the body and mind toward harmony and healing.
